Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus was founded as a fraternal benefit society by Father Michael J. McGivney in New Haven, Connecticut on March 29, 1882. The fraternity was founded on the principles of charity, unity and fraternity, and it still follows those principles today along with the fourth principle of patriotism.
The Knights were formed to provide assistance to its members and their families through financial, social and intellectual fellowship. This is accomplished by various educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, war relief, public relief works and its top rated life insurance and annuity programs
At our council, many our Knights are active participants within the church. They can be seen as eucharistic ministers, cantors and lectors. We are involved with organizations such as VBS, the parish council, baptisms and many others. Locally, we donate to the our local food bank, assist at St. Mark's soup kitchen and any other action we are called upon. We also are involved in several Pro-Life events on a regional level.
Becoming a Knight is a holistic experience, and a great honor of being a Catholic male within the Church.

 

The Knights of Columbus Council # 14786 is proud to sponsor education scholarships in the amount of $500 or greater to any high school senior that is a part of our parish family at Mary Mother of the Church. Interested seniors may pick up a scholarship application from the Knights of Columbus bulletin board in the narthex of our parish. Look for details in the Bulletin every Mary/April.  

Our Knights have initiated a partnership with St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Mount Joy.   We provide people to help with set up, serving, and clean up for the monthly meals they provide in their community room at 37 E Main St, Mount Joy, PA.  

They invite all members of the community to enjoy a free meal on the third Sunday of each month, September through June. 

We encourage all MMOC teens and adults to participate in this outreach ministry.  Sign up sheets can be found in the narthex.  This program is coordinated by George Ross.
